What Gives?

Why is playing in Florida or against teams from Florida such a challenge for the Flyers?

Stumped,

Hunh?

WTH to WTF, all in one game.

Imagine what kind of points damage the Flyers could do if the guys played 60 minutes of hockey in every remaining game of the regular season like they did the last 20 minutes, overtime, and the shoot-out on Thursday. *Shudder, sigh*

I truly cannot comprehend it.

Congratulations to Scott Hartnell on his hat trick. Oh, and we won on a shoot-out? Sweet! (Though kinda unnecessary...)

Amazed,
Flyers.Femme

P.S.: I wish I could have been a fly on the wall in the locker room during the second intermission.

That's Our Guy

Yeah, Johnny!

I'm viewing the story and still not sure I believe it. I'm asking, rhetorically, "How the heck did that happen?"

Love it, like it or hate it...and I'm sure there's plenty of haters out there...TSN named Flyers head coach John Stevens as Coach of the Year.

P.S.: Boudreau, I'm chalking the pass on you up to the fact that you didn't play Godzilla once during the series...bad karma for lack of bad@$$ mofu goalie in your game.

What Happened?

So, the Montreal Canadiens finished first in the Eastern Conference. They had the #1 power play in the NHL during the regular season. They gelled when it was needed.

What happened? The Habs loyalists over at Four Habs Fans have been commenting away on this phenomenon.

However, I would like to direct your attention to the deeply insightful Schnookie over at Interchangeable Parts:

Yeah, I don’t know what happened to that Montreal juggernaut. I guess if you riot after Round 1, you’re just asking to be smote by the Hockey Gods.

Y'know, she could on to something there. (Sure, it wasn't the Habs fans that rioted but I bet the Hockey Gods don't care about those kinds of piddly little details. I mean, they put some NBA lawyer in charge of the Land of Puck 15 years ago, so...)

That Was Random

Sean Avery, most-reviled Ranger if you live in Jersey, was taken out for the remainder of the season by...get this...a spleen laceration.

Raise your hand if you picked that one over STD, Brodeur, or an Olsen twin when you were in Vegas, 'cause I'm pretty sure you just won a whole bunch of loot!

2/21 Sharks v. Flyers

Dear Flyers,

Pardon the girlie, PMS-y question here, but I missed my telenovelas for that?!!?

I have some truly snarky comments I could make. I'm not going to do it tonight. (Tomorrow may be a different story.)

As painful as that game was for the fans, it has to have been 100 times worse for all of you and I just don't feel like crapping on you when everyone else will do it. I mean, I even feel sorry for Tiny!Briere right now.

Dear Flyers in-house, in-game promoters,

You should be ashamed of yourselves! You should have stuck that ice girl in any other jersey tonight.

Or are you trying to make the fans believe that you had no idea Briere will be booed harder by us in the Wachovia Center than by the Habs fans in the Bell Centre?

Dear Gentle Readers,

I can't even begin to dissect that game. My frustration level tonight was higher than the Nov. 17th Devils-induced blow-out I witnessed from Row 1 behind the goal.

Oh and I did something I have never done before: I left the game before it was over! If the Flyers weren't going to win, I wasn't going to miss my train home for it. Selfish I know, however, I'm 99.99% certain that my staying wouldn't have positively influenced the game's outcome for us.

Dear Mike Knuble,

Thanks for setting up that play and going for the goal. Loved it! (Way to pitch in Rosie and Richie.)

P.S.: The new haircut looks great on you. Did you go to the same place as Sami, Kimmo and Danny?

Dear God,

Please, help!

Also, please send enough crappy weather to give me a snow day tomorrow. I won't complain about the 5:30 a.m. wake-up call if it means I can go straight back to bed and start my weekend earlier.

2/19 Flyers v. Sens

Random Thoughts

Because I just can't manage anything else right now:

Vandermeer...as a winger? I am so confused. He hasn't caused enough problems on the back end that we have to put him up front now? I take it back, that scares me.

Kukkie...ouch! And Biron goes down. Both guys stay in the game.

Briere that's just one reason why you're -21! It's treasonous, I know, but I was over him when management brought him on-board. He hasn't looked Briere-like since the season opening road trip. Fewer of his jerseys at future games, please.

Kiiiimmooooo! A defenceman scores a SHG. I love it. I believe he's adopted the F this S attitude that I mentioned we need. (Thank you!)

Upshall (deflection while trying to get out of the way) and Dowd have put us back in the game.

Hey refs, nice non-call on all the slashing during Cartsie's break-away!

Go, Habs, Go!

Brian, et al. in the booth: You guys are going to kill me! Shut up!

Biron
goes down again. Jeez!

Guys: I'll attempt to speak for all fans saying we will so take that one point, thank you. But, we must ask, where were you for the first two periods?

Should I stay or should I go: It's a shoot-out. We don't do those. I'll know once I hear who's in (or out, as the case could be).

Alfie missed? Wow! Giroux, nice move.

Vermette, darn! Timonen, YES!

Spezza, ugh! Briere...no!!!! Why? Stevens, what were you thinking? He's totally snake-bit. He's -21! A shoot-out is not the place to try and fix that.

Off-topic note:
There was a Boston Medical Group erectile dysfunction commercial during the first period. Eeeewwwww! Where are Always, Platex, Kotex and Stay-Free when a fangirl needs them?
