So, we off-loaded Gator, aka Jason Smith.
I kinda thought making the new #21 the captain after Foppa wore it as captain might not necessarily be a good thing. Not anywhere near as bad as the possible ramifications for Modry assuming #26 after we ditched Vandermeer from it, but...you get the point.
Ottawa fans seem okay with this move...right, Scarlett Ice?
But we picked up Arron Asham from the freakin' NJ Devils (OMG, eeew)?
I read that right, right?
I dunno what to think about that. I'm going to have to see if I can ignore the flagrant display of NJ Christmas colors on the Flyers Halloween-themed web site before I can wrap my mind around the potential positives for that acquisition.
Sisters Ookie, any wisdom to share on that one?

Oy, Asham. Do you really need another player like that? Don't get me wrong, every player needs guys like him, but isn't that kind of what Steve Downie and Riley Cote are supposed to be for?
Oh, I'm definitely pleased! We had a hole to fill leadership wise with Redden leaving and hopefully Smith will instill some more defensive responsibility in our guys. Pretty reasonable price tag too!
Justin: Yep.
Sherry: 'Cause if all else fails, he can just look like he'll take somebody apart for daring to look at his zone.
Lol Arron who? Seriously if this guy sees ANY time for the Flyers, I'll be disappointed. Steve Downie is much better than he and we even have Cote and Upshall to fill the agitator role if need be. Why stock up on these players?
After considerable thought, I have discovered a positive side to acquiring Asham. Unfortunately, it's a positive side for him:
Geographically-speaking, this has to be one of the shortest moves possible in the NHL.
That's all I've got.
Homer, please tell me that we'll use him to get someone else. Please?!?
Maybe he'll turn into a stud now that his body isn't consuming the air from Dirty Jerz?
